So our journey began a long time ago. It is hard to explain but as time goes on I will share more of the details. Suffice it to say that in our journey so far, this period of time we are blessed to call “life”, has been filled with “expeditions.” There are all sorts of paths and roads and adventures we have taken but this last one took us to a place, that quite sincerely, we did not anticipate.

It’s a journey to a beautiful place. Beautiful for its natural resources, culture and people. After we came back and began to settle down and evaluate what we experienced in 10 days, our conclusion was simply: “wow–what a journey!”

So we left Ohio for the Poconos, then on to the NY City area, across the pond and north pole down to Singapore and then just a quick hop to BANDUNG, INDONESIA. That we did in about 48 hours including a night in Singapore for a total of about 12,000 miles. Coming back we took a very similar route for a total of 25,000 miles in 10 days. Jet lag? Who knows, we still wake up at night babbling something incoherent. I think we are fine!

The country of Indonesia is comprised of more than 16,000 islands. Indonesia is the fourth largest country in the world. China, India, USA are the three largest with Indonesia being home to more than 270 million inhabitants.

The city that we visited is called Bandung in the Island of JAVA. This city is located about 2 hours south of Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia, and Bandung has over 3 million residents. For every car, we might have counted 10 to 15 scooters. Very few traffic lights and everyone drives on the “wrong side of the road.” It was a thing of beauty to watch how everyone just went about their business with very little traffic issues. There were traffic backups but in due time everything begins to move. There was no rush!

The use of a horn was hardly used. If it was used it was used in a courteous manner as if to say, “beep beep coming around you”, or “I am here to your right.” We lovingly called it ORGANIZED CHAOS!
